2024 So Far

Greetings, whoever-reads-this! We're just six days into the new year. There's snow on the ground, signifying the new season, but Winter actually starts for me when something freezes. Usually the window on the driver's side of my van. Or I get stuck in the snow. That's when I know I've arrived. When Winter lets me know it's Winter

Music News. I've gotten a few requests for lessons in the past year, something I'd normally be up for doing. But I've been tied up with some other stuff- family stuff, mainly- that takes up just enough of my time that adding to it would over-schedule me. Having worked a day job all those years plus playing gigs and giving lessons, I know all about over-scheduling.

And I know what I'm like when I'm over-scheduled. One of the things my ex-wife was right about. “You say yes to everybody who calls, and then you're a crab-ass because you're too busy!”

Yes, dear.  I don't want to be a crab-ass to anybody. Not even her. But I am on hand  to answer questions about guitar playing, either online or possibly by phone. And maybe I can open things back up, down the road.

In other music news, I've been turning out some new albums, at the tail end of this last year. A couple projects that finally came to fruition, after sitting around forever...  Interluudes,  Jazz Guitar Vol 5, and Boom Boom Room.   This link will take you there:  https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOhY7dNUZE6oBg6QyQF-g2g

As far as any gigs, I have one on November 1st, at Boone's. I figure something else will fill in between now and then, hopefully not until it warms back up. In the meantime, I've got something semi-planned for here in the Music Lab. Hoping to lay down some more bass lines for some more of that straight-ahead jazz stuff.

And that's my news for now. Thanks as ever for stopping in and wading through it. As Hurricane Ruth might say, much love! PS The picture goes back to 1980-something. Sebastian's on 5th street, downtown Springfield. Jeff Magby, me, and Tim Green What a gig!
