Music news. Two gigs on the books. The first is January 20, a duo with José Gobbo. We've played together once now, and are due to fire up again this coming Monday. Yesterday was spent in part taking care of some of the rigmarole: contracts, signatures.. It's 6 to 9 at the 3sixteen Wine Bar in Chatham.
The other is a Boone's gig, part of the Friday Night Music Series. May 6th. 5:30 to 7:30. Me, bass and drums. This was the gig that was supposed to happen in May of 2020. Glad it's finally coming to pass.
In other news, still churning out the stuff here in the Lab.. It may not be to everyone's taste, but I have a new one that just released yesterday. Up Through the Up Pipe is its title, and is a curious mix of New Age and modern classical music. It's up on YouTube, and all the other places.
I've tried releasing albums I thought would sell. Albums with recognizable tunes and other humans helping make the music. There is a live recording of the old Sam Crain Quartet, and another mostly live thing featuring a variety of musicians. They've made me 29 and 26 cents, respectively.
i was glad to do these for the benefit of the folks who've worked with me in the various bands. but was surprised that they didn't take off as far as sales. What does seem to work are what one person has described as my odder creations. You'd think it'd be just the opposite. But weird works...
As long as it's your weird. That's actually kind of consoling, that it's best to just be your oddball self.
