Good morning! It's about seven minutes shy of ten here on America's birthday. Made it another year- somehow.. And then there's the annual fireworks display that seems to further divide us. People love them or hate them. If you're a dog owner and/or suffer from PTSD, you're probably in the latter category.
Fortunately we've got a nice sunny day out there today for all those folks who want to get out and celebrate- or at least need an excuse to get drunk and disorderly. The Springfield Muni Band always has a gig on this day..
Not much for crowds in my advancing age, but I still enjoy the fireworks. Living near downtown, I get a pretty good view from either my front or back porches. My brother and I like to do Sunday breakfast about once a month, and today would be perfect if it wasn't a national holiday. Boone's is our usual-and-customary place, but it's probably jumpin' about now. So we're set for the 11th.
Music stuff. One new selection on YouTube with more to come. I've added another one of my guitars to the rotation, this one a rust-colored Ibanez Strat. I've had it for years, just haven't touched it in a good while. I used to use it for different effects, particularly with the Whammy Bar, and as a break from the big guitars I used to play. For some reason, I'm gravitating back to solidbodies after a long affair with archtops.
This particular guitar has a locking nut, supposedly an aid to keeping it in tune. An allen wrench locks or unlocks it. Oughta have one of those laying around someplace... You actually tune from pegs at the base of the strings, which was a bit of culture shock, but adapting nicely. So you may see me out and about with this guitar at some point. The other pic is a guitar selfie, as if you couldn't tell.
My week ahead is one you could shoot a cannon through. Nothing on the books. Hoping to make it a great music week- with lots of practicing, and some new YouTube videos, and even something new in the way of recording.
So I'll try and put my money where my mouth is as far as producing any music worth sharing. Thanks as ever for stopping in and reading. I do appreciate it! Happy Independence Day to my fellow Americans- and on both sides of the aisle! For now, I'm outa here. More later.
PS today's tune is called Astral Underbrush. It's from a CD of mine called Tele-ology. Jazz on a Fender Telecaster guitar. Operators are standing by to take your order.
