Monday Morning Mulligrubs

Good morning! It's four minutes shy of ten here in my corner of the world. A couple different birdsongs going on outside the window. Nursing that first cup of coffee and easing into the day.

Thinking of a former co-worker who had a morning philosophy quite  unlike my own. She was more the carpe diem type, our office activist(translation: shit stirrer)and looked at Monday as another chance to get it right. And a morning person to boot, so it started early...

Almost every morning, it would seem, she was in the manager's office giving him what for. The guy working the switchboard right outside  said he didn't even hear the content of her diatribes anymore, that it was like the muted trombone sounds in Peanuts when the grown-ups were talking.. Many a morning I'd come in and hear her going at it, and make the muted trombone sound as I walked by. It would usually get a pretty good chuckle out of the switchboard guy.

Her desk was right behind mine in the office, so her officious ass was quite often in my business. Many interrupted phone calls. and all under the guise of being helpful. I finally told her, in the nicest way I could, to knock it off. She got all defensive on me, but started to leave me alone. One of the grimmer aspects of the dayjob..

The last I heard, she was promoted to office supervisor. Thinking of that this morning, and feeling incredibly lucky to be retired. It really takes all kinds...

Music news. My quartet album is back in the queue as far as being looked at. We'll see if it passes muster this time. Apparently they submit your stuff to these digital companies before approving it themselves. Apple is supposed to be the fussiest. This too shall pass.

I'm doing a bit more practicing right now, and do have a few studio things I'm working on. Starting to accumulate some material, so I'm sure to have some kind of new recording down the road. Still at it.

That's what I've got for you today. Thanks as ever for stopping in and reading. Happy Monday to you, whatever your approach to it! For now, I'm outa here. More later.  PS Today's pic goes back to my working days with the State. Don't remember the occasion, but it looks like I was King for a Day.  PPS Today's tune is an oldie, called Amazing Bass. Hope you like it.
