Sunday, that fun day

Good morning! 9:52, 30 degrees. I now go to Time and Temperature exclusively for my morning information. You might say I'm now one of their Dittoheads. It's not as succinct as the old "just the facts, ma'am" message. You now have to sit through a PSA to get what you came for. Today's was a Biblical quote about mending our wicked ways- which I guess is Sunday's fare for PSAs.

We were churchgoers, Episcopalians(which I think is kinda like Catholic Lite), but never went in for all that Fire and Brimstone stuff. Mom called it hogwash.  Christ Church, over on 6th and Jackson, was our place. My Dad taught Sunday School for awhile there. I got married there. I was too young to remember all the details, but I do recall my Mom marching my brother and me out of our previous place of worship for one of those sermons about the eternal torments of Hell. "C'mon, boys, let's go. " And we never looked back. So proud of her for that..

Music news. Still working away here in the Music Lab. Sometimes I like to work from scratch, just finding sounds I like and mixing them- much like watercolors, only using different timbres. This is a fun approach, and usually yields those weird little electronic pieces of mine(which nobody probably likes but me..).

Currently working with some of my tunes. Not the unbridled fun of just winging it, but you have a little bit more to show with a full-fledged song.  I've got two all done: one a romp over Sweet Georgia Brown changes with my own melody; and a swing tune called New York Minute, which has been sitting in my songbook for at least a decade. When I have more songs done, I'll remix all of it and share it with you guys.

And that's all the news I have for you for now.  If I can just get one thing off my chest here, something that really bothers me on Facebook and similar social media, is not the political divisiveness but the schadenfreude

I don't like Trump, and I didn't like Rush--the more I learn about Rush, the more he seems like Trump Lite--but I don't wish suffering on them, much less derive any enjoyment from it. I just hope that in their continued 'evolution' they are able to see the mistakes they made and learn from them.

Sorry for the soapbox today. I try to limit the content here to music and humor, but once in awhile I have to vent. Thanks as ever for stopping in and reading. I do appreciate it, and I love seeing the names for 'likes'. Happy Sunday to you! I'm outa here for now. More later.

PS Today's pic is an early Sam Crain Quartet. 1998 or so. Don Cochran on drums; Amy Smith on vocals; Jeff Rogers on bass(also an excellent guitarist). PPS Today's tune is kinda wacky but I think will be entertaining. It's an electronic piece, meaning I did it on synthesizer, and is called Stuff People from Outer Space Would Probably Like, and is just about as dumb as that title. Hope you like it.
