Buddhism n' Basketball

Greetings, whoever-reads-this! It's a beautiful sunny day in the neighborhood. A record high temperature of 70 degrees Fahrenheit.  I think the last time we had a day this warm on February 3rd was in 1890-something.

I'll bet they're even having a decent time in the unemployment office today. Ordinarily, Mondays there--especially in the Winter--are like a North Dakota Winter. But if it's nice out, it's a little harder to despair.

Having spent a little over two decades there, I know how that place operates.

At the moment, I'm staying away from the News. I do pop in here and there, but am not allowing myself to wallow in it. The Big Bang Theory has been my refuge, but of late, I've been watching more College Basketball.

It's fast and fluid and exciting, and is refreshing in that you don't have to do much thinking. And it's something I know nothing about! Well, I'm learning, but still a neophyte. I'm not a sports guy at all, but college hoop is the one exception.

I've also been rereading a book by Pema Chodron, who is a Buddhist nun. She runs(or ran)a Monastery in Nova Scotia, and has written a couple books on Buddhist practices. I am a man without a country as far as any kind of religious affiliation, but a lot of this stuff makes sense to me. The book is called Start Where You Are. And that's just what I do in these re-readings..

And it's gotten me back into doing meditation every day. This is something I've done, off and on, since I was about 18. 52 years. Geez, you'd think I'd be enlightened after all this time…

Music News. Getting back in the schwing with the music videos. I love having a working camera again. Not all the videos I make are ready for prime-time, but it's more the process than the end result. Win or lose, I still got a good workout, both physically and intellectually. Got the fingers working and the synapses firing.

As far as any other music news, we're still getting into 2025. As far as I'm concerned, the year doesn't really start until sometime in March, when the Winter is over. But at least I'm keeping the YouTube page going, so there's always something new to hear there.

So that's life at the moment. Thanks as ever for stopping in and wading through it. Much love to you. More later.

ps Today's tune is a thing by GG Pelletier, called Wokin' the Dog. Andy Burtschi, bass; Craig Russo, drums; me, guitar.
