Friday

Good morning! About 9:40 on this honest-to-goodness beautiful Friday. I commented earlier, when it was dismal  outside, what a wonderful day it was. A coping mechanism I picked up from a boss I had working for the State. But today is the real deal(Neil). Enjoy it while it lasts.

Music news. The top story is still my new CD Near-Miracle on 33rd Street. It's due to go 'live' on Spotify on Monday, and I figure the other companies will follow suit. The CDs themselves are still in my grubby little hands, and I'm still selling them from here. $12.50 if I mail it to you, and $10 if you stop by the house to pick it up. Come Monday, you'll be able to purchase individual cuts as well as the whole pizza pie. There is a website on my Sam Crain & Friends page on Facebook, where you can listen to any of the selections in their entirety.

In other music news, I'm working on another project. This is another one of my mutts, with several different styles at play. It's "kinder and gentler" for the most part, not nearly as intense as some of my productions. So far I have a strong Intro and opening tune and a closing one(titled Exit Music). Gene Haas used to tell us in his Music Theory class at LLCC that people are going to most remember the beginning and the ending. I still think of this when I'm putting together a new project. Coming soon!

And last but not least, still hammering away at the guitar. Adding a little more discipline to the mix, I'm doing technical exercises at the end of every session, and always using the metronome. I usually set it slower than I'm comfortable with, which feels torturous at times but I think is building better control. Calisthenics, basically.. More to come on YouTube.

So that's the music news for the moment. Nothing planned for outside the house as yet, but still plenty going on here in the Music Lab. And as always, what doesn't get thrown out gets shared. Thanks as ever for stopping in and reading. Happy Friday to you! For now, I'm outa here. More later.

PS Today's picture was taken- obviously!- in Las Vegas. Jim Laurie took the picture. I think the year was1986.

Today's musical offering is Mesquite, which is on my album Tele-ology- jazz with a bit of twang. All played on a Fender Telecaster guitar.
