Saturday

Good morning! 9:18 and 41 degrees at the moment. Another Edgar Allen Poe day goin' on out there. A pluviophile's delight. A pluviophile is someone who actually likes this shit. Revels in the darkness. To me, it's Kryptonite. Mind over matter on these funky pre-Winter days.

Music News. I actually have something on the calendar. Friday, December 30th, I'll be at Boone's with the Rob Killam Experience. Rob is a bass player I've worked with quite a lot over the years. Lots of duo gigs, a number of trio affairs, and the occasional Rob gig.

As far as the gigs we prefer, we're at cross purposes. Rob likes bigger groups, and I favor smaller ones. So there will be more folks on the stand than I would've hired. Noisy and crowded- my favorite! But it's five minutes from the house, and I haven't worked with Rob in 6 months or so. And most of these gigs are fun once you get there..

And it's something I can invite people to. I don't do a lot outside the house anymore, but I still take the occasional gig. It gets me out of the house, at least for those few hours.

If I do re-emerge in any real way, it'll be with a trio. I can assemble people as far as that goes, but haven't been able to get a group going. It's been my experience that bands basically create themselves- but you've got to have the right chemistry.

In other music news, i have one more recording to get out before the end of the year. It's another of those smooth/fusion hybrid jobbers, with some nice songs and plenty of guitar shenanigans. With this one, I feel like I'm coming to the end of a phase that was brought on by COVID.

Lots of solo projects in these last couple of years. I'm really getting the itch to bring some more people into these recordings. So I hope to bring you another trio CD at some point in the near future. Next up is a solo guitar album- but I'm at least getting out of the house to record it!

Well this is probably more than enough to read. Thanks as ever for stopping in and wading through it. Happy Saturday to you! For now, ich bin outa here. More later.  PS today's pic is another crowded gig. Hate crowds but love the people. Johnnie Owens, Mark Russillo, Ben Taylor, me and Frank Parker.  PPS today's tune is from my album Tele-ology. Jazz on a Fender Telecaster guitar. Operators are standing by to take your order.
