Thursday

Good morning Vietnam! Here are today's stats: 9:39 and 36 degrees. I always look at the Winter forecast like a mine field: mostly okay but with a few scattered freezing days in there. You just have to watch where you step.

Music news. My new album Sonorities has just been okayed by the Powers That Be, and will release this coming Sunday. Stylistically, it's another one of my mutts. Somewhere in the general vicinity of Fusion and Smooth Jazz. It should be up on YouTube any day now. Looking forward to sharing it with you guys.

A week from today, I have a gig at the 3sixteen Wine Bar in Chatham. José Gobbo and myself. 6 to 9. Jazz standards and what-have-you. We've had three sessions so far and they've all been great. He has 7 gigs this week(!), so it may well be Monday before we can fire up again. This has been a whole lot of fun..

I was going to just wait until the Spring to do any gigs, but got pulled back in. My first gig of the year ended up being on January 7th, with Ocean State. We were the last band to play Robbie's before the fit hit the shan on March 13th of 2020- for what that's worth.

After all this isolation and uncertainty, I was getting lonesome. I can make my own fun here in the Lab, but that only goes so far.  Missing the fellowship, the camaraderie of other musicians. So, Winter or no Winter, this was just what the Doctor ordered. Just what was needed.

Well I think that covers it for now. Thanks as ever for stopping in and reading. Someone even complimented the writing, which made my day. It's the only thing besides music that I'm any good at. Well, Sudoku- if the wind is with me. Happy Thursday to you! For now, this boy's outa here. More later.   PS Today's pic goes back to 1989 or so, taken at Sebastian's on 5th. Jeff Magby, me and Tim Green. I miss Tim's sense of humor. He was a good piano player and a great raconteur. Fancy English for storyteller. Nobody could tell a story like Tim.
