Tuesday

Good morning! It's 9:12 on this "uncharacteristically" sunny Tuesday, Definitely enjoying the return of Mr Sun after all these cloudy days. Morale is tougher to come by these days, so every little bit helps. What a strange time we're living in. The Age of Fake News- and, most recently, what I'd call the "moron militia", which looks like it's not done with us just yet.

I think I'd amend Nietzsche's remark about what doesn't kill you. What doesn't kill you makes a great story for later. I suppose, then, that if it did actually kill you, it'd make a good story someplace else. And of course that hinges on the belief that there is a someplace else. For what it's worth, I still think there is.

Music news. I have a new recording on the way, which I've been talking about in here. It's a live recording from two gigs back in 2004. The Sam Crain Quartet, for lack of a better title. It ships out this Friday. Only 50 CDs for starters- trying to avoid the inevitable boxes of unsold records further cluttering up the place around here. It will also be online, of course, at all the familiar spots: Spotify, iTunes, etc.

Might be fun to do a CD Release Party. I'd have to sound the other three people and see what they think. But it is a possibility. At any rate, some new stuff on the way. In putting this together, I had a nice conversation with GG, the saxophonist & vocalist in the band, the first we'd had in quite some time. I have a feeling we'll reunite musically at some point down the road.

Well those are the main headlines as far as Sam News. I'm actually more comfortable working from home like I've been doing since all this hoohah started last March. What I really miss is more the socializing than being up in front of people. But there are a few folks I miss making music with. So I'll likely make another appearance sooner or later.

Okay! That's my news for now. Hope it was entertaining reading. Thanks as ever for stopping and wading through all my verbiage. Happy Tuesday to you! For now, I'm outa here. More later. PS Today's picture was taken at Remy's in 2008. Steve Jackson is the bass player, and you probably know the trumpet player.

PPS Today's tune is a little unusual. It's called As Time Draws Near, and uses some unusual textures. Something different. It's on an album I released this past year, called Uncharted Waters. Hope you like it. .
