Wednesday

Good morning! It's about 8:30, another bright sunny day on our hands, A strange post-Election Day. Things are still up in the air as far as counting votes and the race to 270 continues.. I suppose I'd prefer this news this morning to a definitive "four more years". At least Facebook was quieter today- so far...

Music news. I wrote a new tune, a blues, which is kind of a take-off on Thelonious Monk's Straight No Chaser(lots of chromaticism).. It's called Shaken, Not Stirred. I suppose that's a sort of homage to Sean Connery as 007. I was a huge James Bond fan as a little kid- 9, 10 years old. Watching them now as a grown-up I see a lot of misogyny, which was called male chauvinism in the 70s. They're not un-watchable but there are those moments, like in Goldfinger, where he shoos off his female companion(who was named Dink) with a slap on the behind. "Man stuff", he says to her. Anyway, a new tune...

In other music news, I found a whole crop of pictures I've never posted. The pictures ordinarily come from playing gigs, and are usually taken by someone in the crowd who posts them to Facebook. Not having played out anywhere since mid-March, I haven't had anything to add. And  I was getting concerned about running out of photos. These ones I found will at least enable me to "tread water" awhile longer..

And then there's the business of my new CD . Hope you'll stop in and check it out. I'm going to try and continue my 'policy" of doing a new CD every year, and usually near the end of that year. So on this website, you can listen through Spotify or Pandora or any of them, and go from there as far as downloading anything. The CDs themselves are still just available through me. PM me if interested.

Other than that, I'm kinda working on some solo guitar things. Might just do another solo guitar album. I did one back in 2006, and it's been my biggest seller by far. More to come here as it happens.

Well that's all I've got for you for now. Thanks as ever for stopping in and reading. Happy Post-election Hump Day to you! I'm outa here. More later.

PS Today's pic was taken at Robbie's in the Summer of 2001. This was a CD Release Party for my album Rose of Loami. Andy Burtschi, Rich Olson and me. The musical offering for today is the first cut on the album. I was going to call the recording Near-Miracle on 33rd Street, and was talked out of it.
