Greetings, whoever-reads-this! Another dismal ass Winter picture. We've had the full gamut of Winters around here, from 2012's curiously non-existent Season to the Blizzard of 1978. This one's about a Five, at least so far. The Red Maple tree in my front yard is at its most barren- the season right after it's at its most resplendent. We're now at the shitty part of the cycle.
This weather is supposed to last pretty much all week and into the next. That's when you can tell you're into the dead of Winter. When it's snowed, and the snow is here to stay. Or so it seems. This is a long-ass month though, which will hopefully give us some of that January Thaw. Winter, for me, is just something to get through. Something best seen through the rear-view mirror.
Today is the anniversary of the attack on our Capitol, otherwise known as the Million Moron March. 3 hours of rampant stupidity. I'm sure there's a pretty solid guard around the Capitol Building on this day.
I just hope this January 6th is more peaceful. And I have the same hope for January 20th. I've been more focused on domestic/family stuff, and thus have had to put the news on the back burner. But I still know it's there…
Here at Crain Manor, we three animals are settling in for some serious hibernation. One animal is typing this stuff, another is sleeping, and a third is perched on the desk.
Music news. Same old same old. Still practicing. and still doing the nuts n' bolts scale and arpeggio stuff, but also working on playing songs. Blue Moon is one. I've fooled around with it over the years, but never quite got around to recording it.
One thing I haven't done in quite some time is another solo guitar album. I did one back in 2007 or so, and always intended to do a follow-up. Maybe it's time.
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_mcEAaz4oD1X3qNUiwPxnUWHX47GLsqlUw Here is the album I did back in 2007. All recorded and mastered in Michael Taylor's home studio. It's the most successful thing I've done, far surpassing my other wares. I don't even plug it anymore, because it always seems to get the lion's share of streams and downloads.
Another solo guitar album sounds like a good move. It may or may not be as successful as the one done back in 2007--18 years ago!--but it sounds like it'll be fun. So we'll see. Maybe a combination of solo and “ensemble” pieces. The Sam Crain Onetet. Coming soon to a store near you!
I've also been changing the video on the homepage more often, and am also pulling from my recorded stuff on YouTube. All in keeping the site dressed up. Also more blogs.
That's about all I've got for you, for the moment. Thanks as ever for stopping in and reading. Much love. More later.
