Greetings, whoever-reads-this!
Domestic news. The saga continues. I posted some stuff last Wednesday, about a few medical tests they did on me. Got all those results yesterday, and more. As it turns out, I do not have The Big C. I do have UTI and Diverticulitis, and will see yet another Specialist. Not great news by any means, but better news than I'd feared.
Called my brother to give him the so-so news, and got no answer. I ended up going over there and found him on the floor. Called 911, and got him whisked off to the Hospital. HIs speech was very garbled. I thought he'd had a stroke. The attending Physician in the ER was very concerned about him and told me to keep my phone handy.
The whole thing, even a day later, was surreal.
This morning I got a call, not from the Hospital but from my brother himself. Still groggy, but coherent. No stroke. Again, the worst outcome didn't happen. Instead, Influenza and Pneumonia. Still serious but not debilitating.
Influenza sounds more like the name of a South American country than an illness. Someplace you go to for your vacation more than something you catch on your vacation.
But seriously folks. I've just gotta resign myself to the fact that this time of life is all about body parts falling apart, and medical appointments to fix those parts. I was starting to get grumpy about all the tests done on me, all the poking and prodding.
Instead, I need to just accept my fate as a Septuagenarian and try to roll with it. Amor fati, as it were. Loving one's fate. Otherwise, there's just so much there seemingly designed to piss you off that you'll never run out of axes to grind.
Sometimes I think of life like that Monty Python bit where they interrupt what you're watching:
We interrupt this program for three reasons: 1)to irritate you; 2). 3) etc. It's just in the basic design….
Music news. I've been a little off kilter this week(see above), but I hope to get back on the track before too long. Thanks as ever for stopping in and wading through all this. Much love. More later.
