un-manic Monday

Greetings, whoever-reads-this! Another day in Paradise. The sun is shining, the temperature is in the high 50s, and everything else is pretty much okay on this day. Things at large--i.e. throughout the country-  are pretty crazy right now, but here at Crain Manor, they're maintaining.

Old Guy News. This coming Spring, I'm having a Dental Adventure. Getting Dentures for the upper teeth. It's supposed to take about 5 weeks, though the healing process will surely take even longer. It's been in the works for quite awhile, something that's finally coming due. Kinda like my new vehicle and roof from last year.  But not as expensive. I'll be paying myself back for a good while, so it's good that Dentures won't break the bank.

One thing about hitting 70 is that you have this new part-time job juggling medical appointments. You're bounced from one Specialist to another for this symptom or that, just so they can all get paid. Or so it seems sometimes.. And if you have a friend or family member you're helping, you've got double the fun.

Then again, this is the age where stuff starts to go wrong. You have at least one spot on your body that hurts, or at least doesn't feel quite right. Almost a rite of passage.

Music news. I'm still working on it, choppers or no choppers. Practicing most every day, running scales and arpeggios and also getting in some “aimless” playing. And my digital camera is still in good working order, so I'm back to practicing with playalong recordings.  And still sharing the ones that work on my YouTube page.

Once I have teeth again, I might just venture outside the house to make music. I'm sure there'd be some people I haven't seen in a good while. In the meantime, I'm keeping up with my YouTube page, posting at least once a week.

And I leave you with this

RIP Less Boucher. Someone I worked with for a couple of my years with the State. He was born the same year as me, only in October--another reminder of my own mortality.  I'm remembering the 9th, which was also John Lennon's birthday. I went to the visitation yesterday, and was surprised to see only a handful of people- none of whom I knew.

From my years working for the State, there were people I'd love to see again. Many of those folks have stayed in touch via Facebook, so we're already caught up, for the most part.  And there are a few who were jerks, who always had an unkind word or at least an attitude. They'd probably have treated me badly--or at least condescendingly--in one way or another. I was dreading seeing them, figuring that with my luck they'd be the ones most likely to be there. So I was strangely relieved.

But I was there, however briefly. Happy trails, Less!

And thank you for stopping in and reading. Much love. More later.
