Donnerstag

Greetings, whoever-reads-this! It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood. Quite a bit cooler, but still acceptable. .

RIP Gene Haas. Saw some old familiar faces at his Visitation yesterday. And some new ones. I got to meet his Grandson Ian, for one. Gene was sort of equidistant between me and my friends, and my Dad and his. And he worked with both groups: the Fred Beck Quartet for many years(of which my Dad was a member), Jane Hartman's trio, and assorted gigs with me. And Gene(along with Brian Justison)plays on my very first CD, made back in 1997.

He was 13 years older than me, and 14 years younger than my Dad. For what that's worth..

With the old and familiar faces, I noticed we're all starting to have our Senior Moments. A certain haziness is starting to set in. My such moment was goofing up the location. I thought Staab was on 6th Street, and found it almost by accident on the way home.

So it was a nice reunion with a couple folks in there. And I got to pay my respects. As well as imparting some wisdom, Gene had two expressions which have always stuck with me, and I suppose will always live on in me: Not too shabby; and Doesn't that just frost your ass?!

As far as my news, nothing much to impart. Sheila from the Arts Council will be sending out a list of dates for Boone's in this coming year, and I'll try to snag something in the Spring. And there may be more stuff at The Pharmacy down the road.

In the meantime, still hittin' it more or less daily here in the Music Lab, and still taping part of my practice sessions. Sometimes it all ends up on the cutting room floor, but I still get inspired moments which I share on my YouTube page.

Okay! Time to wrap this up. More coffee to drink, along with my morning stuff: Wordle, Spelling Bee and Lumosity. . Thanks as ever for stopping in and reading. Happy Thursday to you! Ich bin outa here. More later.
