Friday

Good morning! 9:59 and 83 degrees are our current stats. The rest of the country may be going to hell in a handbasket, but things here in Samland are nice and peaceful.

Today's blog took a different turn. I've never been political, but I'm starting to pay a lot more attention to the news these days. The stuff gets all up in your head. This blog is still primarily devoted to music, but once in awhile this musician has to get a few things off his chest. So bear with me. Music news will be back next time.

Like many Americans, I no longer trust our SCOTUS. Starting to understand the chess match between Dems and Repubs in filling those positions with Liberals or Conservatives and tipping the balance their way. Clarence Thomas came in courtesy of George H. W. Bush; Samuel Alito by Dubya; and Brett Kavanaugh, Amy Coney Barrett and Neil Gorsich  from Trump. Strategically  placed.

Samuel Alito's decision on abortion rights--the model he used-- is just so much sophistry, and doesn't make a lick of sense in the so-called real world. And Clarence Thomas seems like such a hateful human being, wanting to stay on until 2034 because "for the first 43 years of my life, Liberals have made my life miserable- and I want to spend the next 43 years paying them back". And then there's Ginni Thomas, a staunch Trumpie who buys into The Big Lie..

The Republican Party under Trump has transmogrified into a 3-ring circus, with a variety of sideshow acts like Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert and Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity, among others. Dumb as a post and proud of it! There are still some decent Republicans out there, like Liz Cheney. I'm not a Republican, but I'm rooting for them.

Over the last 5 years or so, I've watched this country become more and more divided, and over damn near everything!  It was a division that was always there, but just seemed to come to light with the election of 45. The word schism comes  to mind. Thinking of the Great Schism of 1054, where Christianity split into Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox(I'm no historian- had to look this stuff up); and watching us heading into a Great Schism of our own. I hope I'm wrong..

Just a few things I had to talk out today. Music news will be back with a vengeance next time. Scout's honor. For now, I'm outa here. More later.  PS today's tune is called Action and Adventure, and is from an album of mine called Sonorities. Hope you like it.
