Friday

Good morning! 9:26 and a very moderate 75 degrees. A rainy day, but hopefully a cooler one.

Domestic news. My brother is out of the hospital, and back in his new apartment. He'd been up at Memorial for almost two weeks. I was just up there yesterday, and they cut him loose that afternoon. So we have a few errands to run today, to get him set up with groceries- plus the meds he now has to take. Welcome to Geezerhood, bro!

Music news. I got a nice note on Facebook yesterday from my guitar buddy José Gobbo. We'd worked together in January, and again in April. Both of these gigs were a blast! It's getting to be time to do it again. I can feel it in my bones. So we'll be back stirring up more trouble at a future date.

In other music news, I have yet another album to release. It's a mix of smooth/fusion stuff, with lots of guitar work and a few of my weird little electronic pieces. Actually, the electronic stuff isn't all that weird. It sounds a little bit like Weather Report, like Joe Zawinul. I've just gotta get some cover art--and a title!--and upload the stuff to the computer. Coming soon!

And I'm still working on my guitar playing. Here in the Lab, I do a lot of practicing. Some of it is what I call Castor Oil exercises: nasty, awkward picking exercises up and down the neck. And with playalong recordings- and the winners get uploaded to my YouTube page.

A number of years ago, someone commented on my YouTube page, saying you're certainly not a perfectionist. I do allow a clam or two, as long as they're not egregious errors, but I am fussy about the time, how it feels. That's what communicates to the listener, more than any right or wrong notes..

So that's the story so far. Thanks as ever for stopping in and reading. Happy Friday to you! For now, I'm outa here., More later.
