Life at the Moment

Greetings, whoever-reads-this! The cat eyes looking at you belong to Dmitri. He's one of the new quadrapeds here at Crain Manor, along with his sister Svetlana. They've been here about six weeks now, and are still in the process of settling in.

At first, Svetlana would leap onto my back to announce her presence, always as I was sitting here in front of the computer and often when I was playing guitar. She's ruined a number of YouTube videos I was trying to make. I could probably set up a  Playlist called Banzai! and get a bunch of streams from it if I cared to stoop down to the level of Funny Cat Videos…

She now has a new game, if you can call it that. The game is actually for me. While I'm watching TV, she'll get herself up on top of the set, which is a Big Screen model, and not know how to get back down. So I get to play Fireman and rescue her.

Dmitri is more even keel. He's still got some kitten in him just like she does, but he can also sit with me doing absolutely nothing. My comfort animal. Actually, I think I'm his comfort animal as well.

In the way of Music News, I've been getting in more time on the guitar. Some stuff is coming together in my playing that I've been working on for some time now. Continuity. Phrasing. Time.

I advocate taping yourself to every guitarist out there who wants to improve these things in their playing. There is a point, of course, at which you take a break from it, but the tape doesn't lie.

This is going to show you where you're going wrong, as it has for me many times. But, if applicable, it will also show you what's working!

So that's what I'm enjoying at the moment. Some progress. The nice thing is you never really quite get there. There changes as you get closer. Thanks as ever for stopping in and reading! I'm outa here More later.
