Saturday

Good morning! It's 9:02 and 63 degrees at the moment. More or less bright-eyed and bushy-tailed here first thing in the a.m., with that first cup of Morning Joe.

Yesterday was a gig day. Strangely enough, I don't always post on those days. Played with Ocean State at Boone's, to a packed house. I am still an adjunct member of this group, it would seem. I do their rehearsals, and sub when needed. We had a dual birthday celebration going for Duke Ellington and Toots Theilemans. I think the Duke would've been 123.

These affairs are kind of a mixed bag for me. I enjoy working with other musicians, and I enjoy playing for people(so long as they're listening). And I like the socializing- though I wish it were more social in some ways. But I really have a problem with the noise. It overloads my system and wears me down.

So I'm recharging these introvert batteries today. Next Friday I'll be right back at Boone's, only this will be my gig. Two more hours of music, socializing and cacophony. Looking forward to the music and the socializing.

May 6th will be it for awhile. I like to do a string of gigs and then take a break. A gig schedule is hard to control, because you always have these last-minute things, and it's always a friend asking ,so you're pretty much obliged. But I'm still taking a breather.

So I'll be working on more stuff here in the Lab. Both new compositions and YouTube videos. I like to alternate between playing out and playing in. This way I'm always where I want to be, and I think I give more to both.

And that's all the news I can think of at the moment. Thanks as ever for stopping in and reading. Happy Saturday to you! Later for now. PS Today's pic goes back to 2013 or so. Dan Rivero, Frank Parker, Wayne Carter and me. PPS Today's tune is a thing of mine called Ascend. It's on an album of mine called Sonorities. Operators are standing by to take your order..
