.Good morning! 9:51 and 72 degrees at the moment. Here in the aftermath of another Anchors Away gig. Just like last Saturday, not enough sleep but a few more bucks to my name.
From 8 to 10 last night I played for Victoria Capo. She's very good. There was a lot of reading, and I did get lost here and there, which created some tension on the bandstand. It was a weird evening for me, but ended gracefully. I got my money, said my goodbyes, and was out the door.
I had met her years ago, at another gig. She sat in on a tune I didn't know very well, and there was some fumbling. That evening also ended gracefully, in spite of the weirdness. History repeating itself...
I'm a rhythm section guy, and don't really relate to singers, at least as a group. It's a different mentality. Everything revolves around them. But I do appreciate artistry when I hear it. And I was hearing it last night. Like I said, she's good.
So I have one more gig on the books. May 6th, at Boone's. 5:30-7:30. This one should be easier, being my gig and all. And it's the last one I'm doing for awhile. I get a bit worn from being up in front of people, and take breaks when I need them.
I'm still working on getting myself a new digital camera. This is what I often use to practice with- that stern friend who tells it like it is--and also to make YouTube videos. My new phone just doesn't cut it. Fortunately I have a ton of backlog as far as posts. But I'd like to put up a new one. Coming soon!
