Good morning! 10:28 and 73 degrees at the moment. Another nice sunny day out there. And another night with nine hours of sleep! i've been awake for about half an hour, that first cup of coffee at the ready, yadda yadda yadda. A lot of dreaming, which I'm still digesting. Sometimes I'm a busy boy after lights out.
Music news. I have a new album that just released today. It's called Pianoramics. All piano music, either solo or with an ensemble. Here is the link on YouTube. All my classical stuff from here on in will go to this link. CD Baby made me use my full name, so there are now 2 albums by James Samuel Crain. The other is a sort of concert band, called Concert Music. My titles are either off-the-wall or totally functional and boring.
As long as we're talking albums, I do have the other one that just released this month. Big Hair, Big Dreams. Here is the link to that one. It's probably more to most folks' liking. A sort of fusion/smooth jazz mix. I try to make every album just a little bit different from the others. This one focuses more on the tunes. Some of them are kinda purty, if I do say so myself..
At the moment, I'm just working on the guitar. Much of my practicing lately is done with my brutally honest friend Mr Click Track, but I still use playalong recordings. There are a ton of them on YouTube, and I have 2 DVDs full of Aebersold stuff courtesy of my generous friend Mr Bill Schlipf. And I have a couple of playalong things that worked, so I'll be sharing on YouTube- and here on Facebook.
Still nothing on the books as far as gigs, but I am at least leaving the house to make music. This coming month will include another rehearsal with the guys who worked with me at Boone's, and probably another session or two at one of Ocean State's rehearsals. Hoping to have another trio gig down the road.
Gigs are still fun, but they're draining. I have a wonderful time playing and visiting with folks, but my system gets overloaded with the noise and general hubbub. So I take breaks. But I'm still looking forward to doing another trio thing, whenever that will be.
