Sunday

Greetings, whoever-reads-this! It's another hot afternoon here in the Middle of Everything. That's how Illinois is described in the Tourist Commercials. The Middle of Everything. I think the smackdab point would actually be somewhere in Kansas- but it's another flyover state just like us(except for Chicago, of course), so I suppose we're interchangeable. .

I've been goofing around these days  with some equipment that's long been on the back burner here in the Music Lab. My Line 6 Guitar Processor. Got it at the long-since-defunct Rock Shop, figuring 2009 or so. Also got a beautiful Gretsch thinline ES-style guitar from them, as well as many repairs over the years.

I miss the Rock Shop. There are other music retailers around, but it's not the same.

Anyway, I'm having fun re-discovering some of the soundz in here. I should probably be more systematic about it, but I just scroll until I find something I like, and then the memory saves it. But much of the fun is in the floundering around.

I use this thing mainly for recording, at least the home projects. A few attempts on gigs, but there's an undue amount of messing with it in between tunes. Nothing was said, but I could tell I was on thin ice. So playing out, I'm Mr Clean. The guitar plugs into the amp, with just a bit of delay and reverb. Not exactly no frills, but at least fewer of them.

But at home, more often than not, I'll find a sound with at least a little dirt in it for soloing. There are a lot of sounds to choose from. Maybe a few more Death Metal sonorities than I might use, but still a wide range..

So the plan for today is more messing with my tone. And recording a few things. I always share what works, one way or another. Thanks as ever for stopping in and reading. Happy Sunday to you! For now, I'm outa here. More later.
