The Sam News

Greetings, whoever-reads-this!

Most of my current news is domestic right now, but there is some music news to share.

Music News. Breaking news, just got off the phone. I might have a new guitar student. A referral from  a friend and former student.

It's been ages since I've taught anybody. I told him these days I teeter between retirement and semi-retirement, still keeping my hand in there.. So maybe I'll  open it up a little bit. We'll see how that first lesson goes. I've always enjoyed teaching, so long as I have good and motivated students. We'll see.

In other music news,  I have a brand-new recording. It's called Hanging On, and is available as a download at the usual places. And you can stream it on YouTube.  During the COVID years, I got crazy-prolific, and this one was the last of the batch.

Stylistically, it's a mutt: sort of fusiony smooth jazz(but not Kenny G smooth!). Some pretty tunes. Hope you like it.

Otherwise, just continuing to play here in the Music Lab, though I've had to take some days off here and there while work is being done on my house. Still at it though..

Domestic News. A blurry-but-surreal photo of one of the two new quadrapeds living here. This is Svetlana. Her brother Dmitri is nearby. He is also black, with big luminous green eyes. I don't know where they came from(beyond the local APL), but Svetlana just looked like a Svetlana. With her brother, it was a toss-up between Dmitri and Zoltan. .

I lost my former cat back on May 31st. Had to have her euthanized. Ended up getting two new cats 2 days later. . A bit soon, but still an opportunity I had to jump on. They hid for the first couple days, but have warmed up to me over the past week. We're doing great.

The other domestic news is a new metal roof, which may well be noisy in a rainstorm, but at least keeps the water out. They did a lot of clean-up work as well, and the place is definitely spiffed up, front and back.  Enjoyed the crew who've been working on it, but am looking forward to them getting done, and getting back to some sort of normal..

Both of these events were serendipitous. Happy accidents. Someone was leaving town and had to leave his cats with somebody, right as I lost mine; and someone needed work as a Roofer, right as I needed a new roof.  NIce when things work out this way..

And that's all I've got for now in the way of news. Thanks as ever for stopping in and reading. Happy Friday to you! For now, ich bin outa here. More later.
