Good morning! 9:28 and 68 degrees at the moment. It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood. At least so far. The national news may be horrific, but the local news is still good. And by local here I mean the block I live on, maybe just the house I live in.. Local local news...
The man, the music. Still spending a lot of time on the guitar, trying to improve in a couple areas. Starting to see some results, but it's a gradual process. These new things are starting to creep into my playing, bit by bit. Listening to some younger players these days, who are showing me all kinds of stuff.
In July, I'll have been playing the guitar for 56 years. One of the people I've been listening to- Lage Lund- is 44 years old. I've been playing longer than he's been alive.
In other music news, there's still my new album. Big Hair, Big Dreams. This link will take you to a YouTube page of mine, where you can hear the different selections. It's sort of a mix of fusion and smooth jazz as far as style.
I've yet to get going on any new projects here in the Lab, but I'm sure there will be more.
Another scary younger player I've heard recently is Charles Altura. All kinds of crazy stuff up and down the neck. He has a strange stage presence, just standing there like a Sphinx. Always starts slowly and builds up. Another thing I'm picking up from these youngsters.
Well damn, that's all I've got for you, at least for the moment. Got my morning rituals to tend to--this being one of them--and then more shedding. Oops, musician lingo for practicing. I get a kick out of how people love to ask me about my gigs, like they know one word in Musician. Well, now you can ask me if I've been shedding.
