Today's the Day

Good morning! 9:20 and 60 degrees are our current stats.

What a deal, these posts. You not only get some snappy patter to read, but you get a nice tune to listen to--and last but not least, the current time and temperature! And all for free...

Music news. The top story of the day is my new guitar, which is supposed to arrive today via UPS. And of course I'm driving myself crazy checking the front porch every other minute.. You're never too old to feel like a little kid at Christmastime.. Had to take some inventory here in the Lab, and I have nine guitars and a bass. This new addition to the family will be number 10.

Neighborhoods are not the only things to be gentrified. It's happened to guitars as well. Thinking in particular of Gibson guitars. My new one, an Epiphone Casino Coupe, ran me $550. The equivalent in a Gibson guitar would go for $3200. So I'll forgo Manhattan, and settle in The Bronx--or somewhere in New Jersey...

But the real Rolls Royce of guitars is Benedetto. There is a shop in Savannah Georgia where they make these incredible instruments. You can go to the Benedetto website, or just to Bob's Boutique, to see them. The most expensive guitar they've got runs $40,000. From there, they run $20k or $10k; and then there are the Artist Models. There is a Pat Martino Benedetto which goes for $7500.

Shawn Purcell has one, which he plays on his video clips on FB. .

If you've got the means, you can design your own guitar with them. A beautiful idea, but too much pain in the pocketbook, For now, I'll stick with my Epiphone and Gretsch guitars..

Well I guess that's my news for you for now. It's still not here, but I figure any minute.. So thanks as ever for stopping in and reading. Happy Saturday to you! For now, ich bin outa here. More later... PS today's tune is a thing called Boot Scoot, which is based on the old standard Lover Come Back to Me. Yes here comes the plug: it's on my album Tele-ology. Operators are standing by to take your order. .
