Tuesday

Good morning! 9:34 and 34 degrees at the moment. We're getting snow- in the middle of November! It's coming down as I speak. This is the time of year to live in Florida or Arizona. It's not the time of year to live in Minnesota or Wisconsin- or Illinois! But here we are..

Music news. I'm on a roll. Making some progress on the guitar. I go through slumps, where nothing seem to work and I just get my fingers caught up in the strings. And then I'll have a period where everything works. After 56 years of being a guitar player, I understand these fluctuations and try to just roll with them.

One thing I've heard actors remark on in interviews is all the struggle that preceded their Big Break. . Burt Reynolds called it overnight success after 20 years of trying. When I listen back to something I did that works, I'm proud of it- but I also remember all the abortive attempts that preceded it.

This coming year, I'm gonna make another solo guitar CD. Did one back in 2007, and have been meaning to do another one for some time now. So much of my practicing these days is geared toward that project. I'll be working with another guitar player who's been a friend since High School. Looking forward to the hang as well as the musicmaking.

I hope to do another Boone's gig at some time or other- and hopefully not in the dead of Winter. Also another Artist-on-the-Plaza thing. An hour of solo guitar always wears me out, but I have a great time playing and visiting with folks. I'm a Hermit these days, but not a complete one.

So there's some news for you. Past, present and future. Thanks as ever for stopping in and reading. Happy Tuesday to you! Time now for that second cup of coffee, as well as Lumosity and Wordle. I'm tickled that we seem to have a Wordle Club going on Facebook. In my last years at IDES, I introduced the natives to Sudoku, and we had a similar club going. Anyway! Later for now.  PS today's pic goes back a number of years. Taken at St John''s during Halloween. Dennis Darling on the piano, me on the guitar.
