un-manic Monday

Good morning! It's Monday,  another of those sun n' clouds combos. My neighbor's dogs are all yapping. They're all miniatures, so the barking is more wispy. Fortunately, that doesn't carry very well, so it doesn't quite make it up here. But I'm sure it's an earful from where he's standing.

Okay, music news. This Friday I'll be at Boone's. Rob Killam and Dave Pruitt will be joining me.  We're rehearsing on Wednesday, something I've gotta get set up today. Otherwise, a wide-open day here. As a retired person, I don't like too much scheduling, especially in a week when I'm playing. But we'll be there on Friday. Hope to see you there!

Damn, he's still dealing with those dogs! We sometimes have some pretty good discussions from across the fence, but we always have to wait for them to settle the F down.

In other music news, I've got a new recording that's due to go live this coming Sunday. May 8, two days after our Boone's gig. It's called Big Hair, Big Dreams. One of the tunes, which ended up being the title tune, has what sounds to me like an 80s vibe.

Stylistically, the album is somewhere between Smooth Jazz and Fusion. More going on than a lot of smooth jazz, but without the pyrotechnics of fusion. I hope that makes sense. So it'll be up on YouTube as well as all the other streaming platforms. You can even download it from the usual places: Amazon, iTunes, etc.

After this gig on Friday, I'll probably be cooking up something else as far as new recordings. . Looking forward to a period of peace and quiet here in the Lab after playing out for five weeks in a row. My introvert batteries need recharging now, but there's one more on the books. Looking forward to Friday's gig, but also to 7:30 that evening, when we're done.

Not too far down the road, there will be another string of gigs. And at that point, I'll be all rested up and ready to go. For now, I'm just a little frazzled from all the noise and hubbub.

Anyway! Thanks as ever for stopping in and reading. Happy Monday to you, if that's possible! Ich bin outa here. More later. PS today's pic is the group you'll be hearing this Friday. PPS today's tune is from an album of mine called Tele-ology. Jazz on a Fender Telecaster. It's based on the old standard Lover Come Back to Me.
