un-manic Monday

Good morning! 9:31 and 38 degrees. A bright sunny day out there, but don't forget your coat.

I just got a very nice note from a lady who enjoyed Blue Train on my YouTube page.  She  said her late husband used to play Coltrane on guitar, and that Blue Train was one of her favorites.

I started to tell her that he was probably still hanging around, but instead just said thanks. And that I was glad to bring back some nice memories. Sometimes the simplest answer is best...

Music news. Still just doin' what I'm doin'. I've got one more album to release sometime between now and the end of the year. With this upcoming album, I feel like I'm done for awhile. Done with making these one-man-band recordings, at any rate.

Those may end up being famous last words. But I feel like I've done everything I can do in this particular format. Time to take a breather. Rest on my laurels for a little while. And continue to hawk my stuff to you poor souls..

And I'm still continuing to work on the guitar. Still practicing most every day. There are instruments you have to play every day to maintain things like embouchure and breath-control. Yes, i'm thinking of the trumpet. Guitar isn't like this, although the more you practice, the more you feel it if you miss a day. I lost a couple days when I had my front tooth extracted, and definitely felt the rust!

I was discussing all this with a trumpet player buddy. Yes, the one who played with Ray Charles. I said, in a semi-lament, that I felt I was just now starting to get it together, at the ripe old age of 68. He said, "well, you'll have a headstart on next time"

Yes, we talk about That Stuff, as well as music...

Anyway. I'm starting to run out of page. Thanks as ever for stopping in and reading. Happy Monday to you, if that's possible. I'm off to the races. Lumosity and Wordle- and more coffee. Later for now.

PPS today's tune is the title song of one of my recent albums. Big Hair, Big Dreams. Operators are standing by to take your order...
