un-manic Monday

Greetings, whoever-reads-this! The link is to my newest album, called Hanging On. The cover shows me literally hanging on. I wasn't going through any sort of existential crisis, just plugging or unplugging something from the computer. But I suppose it had that look of a man at the end of  his rope.  Anyway, this one has been out for a couple of months now, and has garnered me a whopping $1.46 in streams.

I send my stuff out there via CD Baby, and it does go to a lot of places, digitally speaking. The buck forty-six was from Apple Music. My cut after everyone else took theirs. The Omega Man here.. Chump change aside, I'm just glad there were a number of people- or at least a number of listens-with the new one.

Today's cover pic, courtesy of Tim Roseberry, if memory serves--my only aerial shot-- was taken just after I bailed on the daygig, soon to retire once I came of age. Summer of 2013. Kevin Ellis, Jaro Howse and me, playing at PNC Bank downtown. Kind of an old home week, not having seen those guys in years. We ended up talking in between every tune we played.

They've since closed that location. PNC is still here, just not downtown anymore. Somebody else will move in, eventually. Many gigs in that building over the years.

I even worked there, from October of 1986 to March of 1991, as a Bank Teller. Talk about your chump change. Plus you get to see what everyone else makes, having to deposit or cash their checks every week. As far as income inequality, your nose is pretty much rubbed in it.

But the good news is that you get perspective on the job market. The State and the Post Office were the best games in town, so that's where I set my sights. You're not gonna get rich working for the State, but you won't starve either.

And here we are in the Summer of 2023, ten years after I left my job. Ten years older. Turning 69 instead of 59. Everything is still holding together, but I'm having to get serious with the diet and exercise. I had a program using weights, but had whittled it down to isometrics, and I was even sloughing off with that. Lazy lazy..

So I've started to beef up my exercise program.  My first priority is maintaining this new and tougher exercise program, plus watching the diet. And tied for first is some family stuff. Right behind that is my new animals, and tied for second is my music. Music will always be in there, but sometimes it has to take a back seat.

Anyway, I'm still in here plugging away. Thanks as ever for stopping in and reading all this. For now, ich bin outa here. More later.
