Wednesday

Good morning! 10:06 and 47 degrees at the moment. I've been up about half an hour. Partly sunny, what I call Nature's Deadpan Face. What the hell, it's what we've got for today.

Music news. I actually have a gig tomorrow. It's a House Party, in the Panther Creek area. 2 hours, good people to work with, and a pretty good chunk of change to take home.

The only request they have is the tune At Last. I love that song, but have never played it before, believe it or not. So I went to YouTube and listened to Etta James's masterful version. And then tried to find it in a Fake Book. I've got a bunch of them on disk, and went through maybe five of them before finally hitting it.

I then sent a message to the bass player that I was able to get the tune they wanted. He already had it in his phone. I could've saved myself all that time and trouble if I'd just stopped and asked for directions...

This gig was very short-notice, just got it yesterday. I'm not a fan of last-minute stuff, but like I said, it's short hours and good people and decent money. And last but certainly not least, this bass player and the drummer who was working with us once  bailed me out of a same day situation.

Perfect Impressions had called me to tell me I had a gig that day. Talk about somebody pissing in your Cheerios.  Thanks to my guys, I was able to produce three warm bodies. I think that was also  the infamous no-bass-solo gig, where they kept interrupting just as he was about to take one.

in other music news, I'm working a week from this Friday at Anchors Away with José Gobbo. And then on May 6th at Boone's with Rob Killam and Dave Pruitt. Another wave of busyness, after which I'll probably hide out for awhile, recharging these introvert batteries and cooking up some new music.

So that's my news for today. Thanks as ever for stopping in and reading. Happy Hump Day to you! For now, I'm outa here. More later.
