Good morning! 9:30 and 78 degrees are our current stats. Hopefully a kinder, gentler day as far as the heat. My upstairs is always about 20 degrees warmer than my downstairs. Except for these dog days, it's usually not a big problem.
This has been a crazy week. On Monday, I took my brother to the Emergency Room at Memorial. We were there for a long time, almost seven hours. Par for the course. They whisked him around the area for various tests, and ended up admitting him. Congestive Heart Failure. Treatable but not curable.
I just talked to him this morning. Had to make the joke that having spent 7 hours together on Monday, we've probably met our quota for the next couple months. We're solid as brothers, but tend to get on each other's nerves after awhile. Typical sibling stuff.
Some folks are friends with their brother or sister, but more often than not, it's a bumpier relationship. A sibling is like your best friend and worst enemy--or at least sharpest critic--rolled into one. I played a goodly number of gigs with two brothers--the Thompson brothers---and remember them bickering all the way to the gig, and all the way home..
My brother didn't get the music bug. He joked that if we were both musicians, we'd steal each other's gigs. And I joked that if we had a band together, it'd probably be called The Self-Righteous Brothers..
Besides DNA, we do share a sense of humor.
The German word for sibling is geswister. Pronounced gesh-VIS-ter. One of the few things I remember from class..
Music news. I was hoping to get something going in the recording side of the Lab, but it's been too damn hot. But I have kept up on the guitar, and am still getting a daily workout there. And I have a few new things to share on YouTube. More to come.
