Halloween Sunday

Good morning! It's 9:37 and 47 degrees at the moment--wait, make that 9:38.. Another dark rainy day. Well I guess it's more fitting of Halloween. Most everybody will have their porch lights on tonight to accommodate the trick-or-treaters. Well, everybody but the Convicted Sex Offenders and people who were too lazy to go out and buy candy.

Back in working days, there was a co-worker who proudly declared he was leaving his lights off for Halloween. I enjoyed kidding him about it. "Well Ron, you have to leave your porch lights off!"  As well as avoid school playgrounds and Parks...

Music News. A nice productive day yesterday here in the Lab. Got in some good practice on the guitar and worked on my tunes. A rendering of Ornithology is up on my YouTube page and the My Wares section of this site is starting to fill up with more stuff.

My albums anymore aren't so much straight-ahead jazz as they are mixtures of different styles. At least the solo projects. Maybe that's my voice, as far as that goes. You spend years and years as a player trying to find and develop your own voice, so it figures that a composer would have a very similar process.

I haven't given up on group CDs, and would love to do another one. And as far as straight-ahead jazz, it really belongs more in a group setting. What makes jazz jazz is the interaction. And, of course,  to achieve that, you have to have more than one person in there..

Group CDs have a lot more hassle to them, between the scheduling and trying to get everything right in the studio. So it's easy to opt for solo projects, where I just have myself to worry about. But when they're done, they're more rewarding. And I like to think I'm helping other folks by putting them on a few of my albums. They're sure as hell helping me..

This is probably boring as hell to anyone who isn't a musician, or other kind of artist. Debating whether to share this on Facebook. Anyway. Thanks as ever for stopping in and reading. For now, I'm outa here. More later. Happy Halloween!
