It's on August 26th, which is a week from tomorrow. Actually, it's not really a gig but rather a Church Service. In beautiful Lincoln Illinois. About a half hour away. I whittled the schedule down to one rehearsal sometime next week. Otherwise, I'm there on the 26th to play the service.
There are situations that life just seems to throw in your lap. This was one of them. I tried to weasel out of it at first, but later saw it as an opportunity to help someone.
I've had occasions where I've taken something absolutely last minute, and other times when I weaseled out. You feel better, really, if you just go ahead and do it. I regret most of the times I ducked out. So this is me, intending to do more in the way of helping.
I miss playing downtown on the Square. That's where this picture was taken. I used to do it every year, for many years running. Then the Arts Council decided you couldn't do both a Robbie's(and later Boone's)and an Artist-on-the Plaza. They discontinued the Friday Night jazz, but I don't know where they're at with the downtown thing.
Solo guitar wears me out. I was always pretty spent after that hour, but it was a good spent. And there was almost always someone I hadn't seen in awhile. It was well worth the time and trouble..
So that's my news for the moment. Thanks as ever for stopping in and reading. Much love to you! Later.
