From the recording Pianoramics
The title came from an occasion maybe 25 years ago. There were three of us, all teachers at the Walko Music Co, and we were all banging around on various instruments. Bill on guitar, Karl on banjo and me on Mandolin. Steve Walko, the owner, came in and said, "What the hell's going on here?!", to which Bill replied, ït's a hootenanny, Steve!" Not much of a story, as stories go, but that's the one for this tune--or at least the title.
