Good morning! 11:33 and a breezy 27 degrees from where I'm sitting. It's been awhile since I've written one of these, so here goes:
Domestic/Old Guy News. I just had surgery on a place on the top of my head that had a few ‘atypical’ cells. The surgery itself took maybe 20 minutes, but I was advised to take the rest of the day off. They had me bandaged to keep everything in place, which I kept on for the full 24 hours. Right down to the minute. Made a game of it..
I felt restricted as hell having that thing on. Is it just a coincidence that bandage and bondage are such similar words? I felt very liberated taking myself out of bandage just now..
So I go back and see them in two weeks. And then a 6 month checkup. All good. Just a part of getting older..
Music News. Friday, March 31st at Boone's. 5:30-7:30. Ben Taylor on bass, Jaro Howse on drums, and yours truly on guitar. I'm using different people this time, which is no reflection on the guys who've been doing these with me. Just wanted some different energy. Looking forward to this, as I do all my gigs. Hope to see you there!
I think from here on in, I'm just going to use different people when I get something. Groups tend to form themselves, so it'll either happen or it won't. But I've got what is essentially my book of tunes, which should work with most anybody I hire.
Otherwise, just continuing to practice here in the Music Lab. And to make YouTube videos, when the spirit moves me--which is usually! And I haven't forgotten about doing another solo guitar album, one of the plans I had for this year. Just got sidetracked with some of this old guy stuff.
I was saddened to read on Facebook about a friend selling all his keyboard gear because of Arthritis issues. This friend is a good deal younger than myself, and should have more years left to play. Makes me that much more determined to make use of my hands while I've still got ém.
