Greetings, whoever-reads-this!
The title of this blog refers, of course, to the scene in Meridian, Idaho, at Lewis and Clark Middle School, where the 6th grade teacher was told to take down posters she had up in her classroom(and had had them up for the past 4 years!) because they “violated school policy”. Because it's considered a matter of opinion. I guess to some folks, not everyone is welcome.
Not everyone holds these truths to be self-evident…That's scary.
These days, I'm more informed than I've been as far as what's going on around the country, and the world at large. I guess that's a good thing. But it comes with a price: I'm also more pissed-off. Then again, pissed-off is a natural reaction- a healthy reaction. And while we're at it, so is fear.
So I think the elegant solution here is to feel one's feelings fully- without denial. Be just as pissed-off and scared as it's in you to be. But at the same time don't allow yourself to be consumed by them. That's how I'm trying to work it..
Music news. Still trying to keep up with the guitar. I still practice most every day, and still make music videos. My YouTube page is doing fine. I'm up to 600 subscribers. Another milestone! Gigs are few and far between- the last one I did was last November- but I'm still not quite retired either. As long as the fingers still move..
And I'm still enjoying my retired life. Trying to keep the brain going with Lumosity and Spelling Bee. Plus I like to read. I've been doing the Lumosity games since 2015, and they're great exercise, but they also remind me I'm getting older. Some of the high scores I got back in 2015 I can't get anymore. Like much of life, I just try to roll with it..
Meditation is something I'd recommend to anyone who's feeling stressed--which is pretty much everyone! I've been practicing, off and on, since I was 18 years old. It doesn't turn you into a Swami, but it does help to cool you out. Given our current climate, I'm back on it.
And that's all the news I've got for you for now. Thanks as ever for stopping in and wading through all this. Much love! More later.
