Good morning! It's Friday, around 10:30. Another rainy day. My cat and I are at our respective battle stations this morning, her in her chair and me at the computer. We're down for whatever..
For about the past week, the computer has been acting up, especially first thing in the morning. Okay, first thing in my morning. But it would add letters or characters to damn near everything. There were a few letters that would trigger it. Naturally, I did a scan or two for viruses, but no soap. I was actually starting to learn how to type around it. Getting pretty slick with that backspace key, if I do say so myself.
Musical news. Lots of practicing these days. Nice to have a few things to practice for. With this comeback, I want to be doing more of my own things. I'm happy to sub here and there, but am pretty much done with being a sideman. And to that end, I'm putting together the trio I had before the Pandemic. The next date for us is September 3rd, at Anchors Away.
What has happened with various bands I've led is that they turn out to be our bands. It was true of the trio with Don and Bill, and of the quartet that preceded it. And that's what I'm hoping for with this new trio. I think we just need to play more together. Chemistry takes time..
I'm not making any new recordings just yet, but have amassed a pretty good backlog in this past year. Starting to put a few things together. There are a few projects here on the site, under My Wares, that I got started on and got sidetracked.
I shared one of them on Facebook just yesterday. It's called Nine Pieces. They're very unusual, but still musical. I encourage you the reader to stop in and check 'em out. But you'll need to turn up your speakers...
Okay, that's about all I've got for you for now. Nice to be getting back into the world- even though it's a world that seems to get crazier by the minute. Thanks as ever for stopping in and reading. I do appreciate it! Happy Friday to you. For now, ich bin outa here. More later.
PS Today's pic was taken in 1999 or 2000. Greenwich Village, New York City. It was near Sheridan Square, near a bar called Boxers, where many scenes from the movie Night and the City were filmed. Robert DeNiro, Jessica Lange et al. Cool movie.
PPS today's tune is a thing called Driving Through Plutonium. Going weirdo on you this morning. And yes, I got that title from a line in Annie Hall..
