Saturday

Good morning! Just after ten this side of noon. A bit later than I usually post, but I had a morning errand. It still amazes me that I can place an order online at 8:30, and drive downtown to pick it up at 9. Two panhandlers out front, a number I'm sure will increase as the day goes on. I just walked up and gave one of them a couple bucks, which I've gotten in the habit of bringing with me. It's never enough(and never gonna be enough)but an effort was made.

Home at 9:30am, ready to start my day. This is always one of my first stops. I don't know if it's attributable to advancing age(or incipient autism) but I have my routines set in place for at least the first part of the day, and it feels weird to deviate from those well-worn paths. But if it's for a good cause, as was the case this morning, then I'll bite the bullet.

Music news. Still on a nice roll with the home recording. Three new cuts from yesterday, all using guitar, ready to upload here and share with you guys. Newbies.  They're also  like newborns, in that they still don't have names!  Most of my newer cuts are guitar-based. Strangely enough, they're not straight-ahead jazz but more in the eclectic mutt breed. More akin to fusion and sometimes smooth jazz. I still play my same basic stuff as far as lines and melodic ideas, just with a different tone. All to be heard on the Music page of this site.

My new CD is Near-Miracle on 33rd Street, which is straight-ahead jazz. CD Baby used to have a website automatically built for your new recording, but now they sell you one, through another company called HearNow. I have yet to buy one of these, even though the price is reasonable. $24- which, if memory serves, is the amount we paid the Indians for Manhattan. This time I think I'm gonna go for it. So you'll be seeing this on my page later.

And that's all I've got for now. All good here. Still making music, and sharing it when it's worth sharing. And still surviving as far as the daily onslaught of news. Thanks as ever for stopping in and reading. Happy Saturday to you! I'm outa here. More later.

PS Today's pic was taken at The Alamo a couple years ago. Frank Parker is the trumpet player. Otherwise, Mark McKnight on drums and Rob Killam on bass- and I think Buddy Rogers on saxophones. I did this gig at the Alamo for a couple years running earlier in my retirement. Lots of fun and great people to be having fun with!
