Good morning! It's 8:45 in the a.m. here in the Land o' Lincoln. Looks like a nice day on the horizon. My cat is watching the window. I have an air-conditioner that birds like to land on, which puts Cindy in Full Predator Mode. I feel her frustration, but at the same time don't want to watch her mangling some poor bird. Witnessed that as a kid. Feline cruelty. Or maybe feline schadenfreude. They make great pets, but there is that element of "evil". My brother seems to think the only reason they don't eat us is because we're too big..
Music news. I've got a new jazz CD that will be available very soon. I've been doing a lot of download-only stuff with some of my weirder, more eclectic things, but the jazz stuff I like to do "old school'. One fun aspect of doing CDs is writing the liner notes. I like providing something to read as well as something to listen to. And it's an opportunity to send out 'shouts' to various folks.
The music is all ready to go. Spent a couple hours yesterday at Taylor Music, which is Michael Taylor's garage-turned-studio. We go back about 40 years, so there's always plenty to talk about. As well as balancing the levels, Michael provides more presence to the cuts. We're lookin' good.
It felt like it'd been ages since I'd been out there, but it was actually about this time last year. That just shows what a tumultuous year it's been, from mid-March on. to the present. Several years worth of upheaval packed into one.
Anyway, the new CD is called Near-Miracle on 33rd Street. I even have a picture of 33rd Street in Manhattan- and as an extra touch it's at 3rd Avenue, so you have 33rd and 3rd.. Or rather, "toity-toid and toid"..This will be a busy day, uploading all the tracks and getting the cover pic ready(always have to adjust dimensions). And I'll be sharing a cut or two on Facebook.

PS Today's tune is from the new album. It's called Color Me Gone. One of two songs written for my Dad(the other being One for Dad, which is on Bird's-Eye View. I'd just started working for the State, and there was a guy who didn't pass his probation. He put a memo in everyone's box entitled Color Me Gone. My Dad's diagnosis was in that same period of time, so another song was born. Hope you like the tune.
