Another Peaceful Monday

Good morning Vietnam! It's a nice sunny day out there. Currently  9:39 and 33 degrees. Even if you have to work today, a sunny Monday always beats(or should I say trumps) a cloudy one. Still Monday in all its irritating glory, but the Sun seems to take some of the edge off.

Music news. Yesterday I uploaded yet another recording, which will soon be available. It's a collection of short pieces, 12 in all, done here in the Music Lab on synthesizer. A synthesizer, for the uninitiated, is just a keyboard with lots of available sounds. The new recording is called Twelve Twisted Tales of 2020. Some of the titles, like Orange Mussolini and Tyranny in Toyland, bear directly on events from this past year, but most are more abstract.

Being that this is all original material, with no songwriters or publishers to credit, it should go through without any need for edits--as there have been with two more 'commercial' albums I'm trying to get through.( Mein kampf...)This is some of my weirder stuff, and won't appeal to everybody, but it's still very expressive. My aim, no matter how bizarre the sounds may be, is to communicate.  And I know that there are a number of you fellow weirdos out there who will appreciate and enjoy this music.

Remembering a patch from school days, 1976-80. Peabody Conservatory of Music, in Baltimore MD. Monday started with a bang, German class at 8am, on the 4th floor of the Prep building(no elevators)with an overweight, humorless woman. Foreign language was a requirement for music comp majors. There were three of us in her class, and we were never all there at the same time.

She really took a dislike to one of my fellow music comp'ers. Was bedeudet, Willie! (There was a fair amount of was bedeudet, Sam, for that matter..) He and I both bombed out of German, and ended up in French class, with a teacher who liked him but couldn't stand me. Somehow we both squeaked by in French.

He told me that he had three or four alarm clocks to get him up in the morning, and could still sleep through all of them(!). When his wife moved out there with him, he was able to make his morning stuff. She joked to me that he'd whine about having to go to German class.

Thinking back, I wished I'd paid more attention. I'd love to know another language. Hope poor Mrs Homann, the overweight humorless lady who taught German  to us ungrateful little jerks, got to retire. I felt sorry for her.

Anyway! This is my post for today. Hope it's an entertaining read. Thanks as ever for stopping in and wading through all this. Happy Monday to you! For now ,ich bin outa here. More later.  PS Today's pic was taken in 1985, and is a slice of downtown Calgary, in the Canadian Province of Alberta. Spent a month in Calgary and Edmonton with a road band. Calgary, for what it's worth, is where they filmed parts of Superman III- the parts that are supposed to be New York. PPS Today's tune is called Awakening. It's from this new weirdo album I just uploaded, the last cut on the album. As ever, hope you like it.
