Friday

Good morning! 9:10, 34 degrees here in the Best of All Possible Worlds.

I started to post yesterday, but was too busy dealing with the elements. Got one window in the house that doesn't have the best insulation, and everything covering it was pulled loose. Hillbilly ingenuity enabled me to attach it to a nail in the middle, so I ended up with a secure left side and a right side that kept coming undone.

Woke up this morning and found the right side partially undone. More hillbilly ingenuity found a place to attach on the right side, and peace is restored to the land. At least I'm ready for the next windstorm.  A tall person could've easily reached in and done all this. A short one has to stand on a chair to do it, which of course makes things just a little more precarious.

I've never been able to embrace being a short guy--I could never be an R & B or rap  artist because I'd have to be Lil' Sam(if people address me in that way I just dismiss them)-- but I've gotten to where I don't think about it much, unless I have a situation like this last one. Or I'm buying pants.

Music news. About damn time, right? In spite of the day's travails, I was able to crank out a couple new things here in the Lab. A couple of my weird little interludes, and a full-fledged tune. The tune is a minor blues- that is, a blues in a minor key, not an unimportant or trivial blues as minor might suggest.

For some reason, I was thinking of Nigel Tufnel, brilliant visionary guitarist for Spinal Tap. Also a phenom on piano, and music theorist. His poetic composition Lick my Love Pump, which was set in D minor---the saddest of all keys. i guess the day leaked in there as far as my musical output. Yesterday's blues tune is set--perhaps as an homage to NIgel- in the lachrymose key of D minor.

My album A Walk on the Mild Side, which finally got approved after many edits, can now be heard on YouTube. CD Baby can be like Checkpoint Charlie getting your stuff approved, but once it's in there, they sent it everywhere from here to Timbuktu. I think that's in Mali..

And that's my news for today-and yesterday as well. Enjoying the hell out of this nice sunny day, after a string of dismal rainy ones. Most likely more music on tap for today. And more to come your way. Thanks as ever for stopping in and reading. Happy Friday to you! I'm outa here. More later.

PS Today's pic is of Spinal Tap's NIgel Tufnel, probably expounding on one of his ground-breaking musical ideas. Turn it up to 11!  PPS today's tune is a new thing of mine called Happy Hour. Hope you like it.
