Good morning! About 9:30 on this cloudy Friday. Another dismal-ass day ahead. But these dismal-ass days are good for running errands, and for musicmaking. Me and my furry housemate have enough human and cat food to tide us over, so it looks like music wins today.
Music news. The top story is still my album The Sam Crain Quartet .It's one of my more commercial albums, with lots of cover tunes. Two of them even have vocals(don't worry, it's not me!) . After all the quirky little projects of 2020, I wanted something more mainstream. And also something with other musicians on it. Especially if they've worked closely with me over a period of years, as these guys have.
I have some new material to share just as soon as I get my computer fixed. It's got a DVD stuck in it, which likely means a couple days in the shop. Some of the new stuff is straight-ahead jazz and some is more eclectic. Looking forward to eventually sharing the new tunes.
In other news, I've got this friend who used to take guitar lessons with me, who has discovered the joy of home recording. Every time I talk to him anymore he can't wait to tell me about his new projects. So I have this CD to listen to of his new stuff, with some places for me to play guitar over. Got it scheduled for next weekend. Should be fun.
That's the closest thing to a gig that I have, at least for now. I'll be at Robbie's some time or other as they get back on track. In the meantime, still working away here in the Music Lab.
