Good morning! A beautiful day out there even if it is Monday. I think I'm still recovering from Saturday. A grueling day that at least ended well. Stayed in most of yesterday, except for a trip to one of our Dispensaries. Just had to put that gig money to good use. A treat, from me to me for getting through Saturday.
Music news. I have three more things on the books at the moment. The first one is August 16th at The Alamo, 7 to 10 with Dan Rivero. Second is the end of this month, from noon to one, on the Square- just a boy and his guitar. And last is September 3rd at Anchors Away with Rob Killam and Dave Pruitt. Hope to see you at one of these events!
All of these gigs should be very enjoyable. Making music is the most fun you can have with your clothes on, to quote Miles Davis. Gigs seem to take more out of me than they used to though. The crowd and the noise wear me down. After this past Saturday I don't want to play anyplace for awhile. Glad to be back to a schedule you could shoot a cannon through..
I hope to be releasing some new music in the next couple months. Some of my weirdo stuff and some of my smoother stuff. The straight-ahead jazz things are best in a group setting, so I'm waiting until such time as I can put that together. Probably trio, maybe add in a horn player. On the back burner but still coming, sooner or later.
I should say something here about smooth jazz. Smooth gets a bad rap at times because it includes very cool folks like The Yellowjackets and some less cool ones like Kenny G. I'm pretty fed up with genres at this point, for that very reason. Anyway, more stuff on the way- whatever you want to call it!
