Good morning! Just shy of nine-thirty, a balmy 71 degrees here in Paradise. Another glorious day ahead. Coffee is making that dream a reality.
I have no idea what I meant by that. Part of the fun of writing these is the fact that I'm still waking up. More stray thoughts and weird associations. I don't know if these are fun to read, but I try to make them fun to write.
Music news. A brand new month, and with it a whopping 3 items.
Today my new recording, Homebody Guitar, becomes available. It's an eclectic mix of jazz and funk and God knows what else. Lots of guitar and keyboard solos, and I like to think some nice grooves. So far, it's available only as a download, but if it gets enough attention, I'll be glad to make it into a CD.
Next Thursday, I play on a concert with the Springfield High School jazz band. That's October 7th, probably 7pm or 7:30. I was contacted at the beginning of September, and then didn't hear anything until just this week. So it was kinda on the back burner all this time, half-figuring it'd been cancelled by good old COVID. Getting the sudden news that it's on jarred me a little bit. But my attitude has adjusted, and I'm ready to give it what for..
And later in the month I've got a job with the Samba Llamas. Saturday, October 23rd from 5 to 7 at Pease's Candy. Brazilian music. Lively and energetic, and also soulful. I've subbed with them a fair amount over the years. Always a nice time.
I was saddened to hear that two local guitarists, guys around my age whom I've known for years, are having hand problems which are preventing them from playing. They're both good players, and both with a great love for the instrument. Hoping of course that both of these individuals can work out their difficulties..
This also makes me more resolute about my own two good hands, making the best use of them. Feeling damned lucky..
Okay! This is more than enough to read. Thanks as ever for stopping in and wading through all this. For now, ich bin outa here. More later.
