Good morning! It's a beautiful day out there. When I first started at the unemployment office, our manager would come in on days like this with a remark like that. He told me later that he was trying to convince himself.
So, okay, it's actually a shitty day out there. More rain on the way and my wheels are still in the shop. And more stuff I could kvetch about.. But I'm going to try and make it a better day in here. Mind over matter..
Music news. One new post on my YouTube page. It's called My Shining Hour. Great old standard, written in 1943 by Harold Arlen, for the film The Sky's the Limit. Wartime stuff.
In other news, I released a new album this month. It's called Homebody Guitar. The style is somewhere between Fusion and Smooth Jazz. Concentrating more on the grooves in this one. It's not Dance Music as such, but you could get up and move around to some of the cuts, if so moved..
Much as I love working solo here in the Lab, I miss working with other folks. Before the Pandemic hit, I had a nice little niche carved out, with occasional things at Robbie's, and(my favorite!)assorted one-hour gigs at the various Assisted Living Centers. A mix of altruism and selfishness: I love playing for the old folks, but also love that it only takes an hour...
So with those two things wiped out, I'm a man without a country. A Pirate, musically speaking. Just missing the ship and the parrot.. And the bandana and earring.
What I really want to do is another group album. It's been ages. Thinking trio/ quartet. I like smaller groups because there's more intimacy- and because they're easier to schedule. More on this as it happens.
