Goot eeevening. This is usually a morning activity, but it got shelved. They're better-written in one swell foop. I mean, one fell swoop. My ex-wife used to spoonerize damn near everything, a habit I picked up from her. Pepsi-cola, for instance, was Kepsi-pola(Slavic Pepsi?). She may still do that, for all I know..
You may already know this, and forgive me if you do. Trying not to be pedantic here, just informative.
A Spoonerism is the transposition of a consonant or syllable within a word. It's named for William Archibald Spooner, a 19th century British Don(which I guess means Priest or Pastor)at Oxford. His most famous gaffe is The Lord is a Loving Shepherd, which came out The Lord is a Shoving Leopard. Poor guy...
Wow. It's just as easy to go off on a tangent in the late afternoon as it is first thing in the morning. All it seems to take is me..
Music news. Well, I got to play some this afternoon. With a keyboardist, whom I used to do duo gigs with back in the 80s and 90s. Many gigs, come to think of it. Two spots were a place called Peggy's Over 30 Club on the East Side and Mountain Jack's on Stevenson--which has probably undergone several incarnations(if not an irrigation or two) over the years.
R & B and Jazz tunes. Sometimes with him and his brother, who was/is a very good bassist. They'd bicker all the way there and all the way back--but never anything serious, at least not with me in the car. I was usually pretty entertained by it. Better than the radio as far as shortening the drive time..
Probably something like my own brother and I would've sounded like. The Self-Righteous Brothers. We are capable of putting our heads together creatively, but usually serve more basic sibling functions like bailing each other out. I just know I wouldn't want to work for him, and I know damn well he'd hate working for me..
Okay, I don't have any bona fide news. Hopefully some entertaining patter. A nice week in Samland. Nice to re-establish old connections. A more social week than usual, which is good. I told my buddy today, after a couple hours of hanging out and playing tunes, that I had to get home to recharge my introvert batteries.
Thanks as ever for stopping in and reading. Happy Friday to you! For now, I'm outa here. More later.
PS This picture is not of the friend I mentioned . Different friend. Different story. Probably as entertaining though..
