Geezer news. I just had my eyes checked this week. Still healthy but dry. So I now have some vitamins to add to my daily meds. My Eye Doctor has a son who is also an Opthalmologist and has a practice in Chatham. Had to go there to get the vitamins. But I'm set for the next three months.
Normally, a drive to Chatham is a nice little jaunt that takes maybe 20 minutes. The traffic yesterday, at least on the west side, was insane! Gridlocked all the way from Chatham Rd to Veterans Pkwy. A white-knuckle experience. The whole trip took about an hour.
I mentioned this later to a friend and he said, "well you should've driven faster!" Great to have such friends...
Music news. One new entry on YouTube. It's called Entomology and is an original melody over rhythm changes. Sort of a tip of the hat to the Charlie Parker compositions Ornithology and Anthropology.
In other music news, I have two new albums set to release this coming month. Concert Music is a virtual Band Concert, about 25 minutes in length. Alternately titled Home Band Shell. It releases on December 1st.
The other one is more electronic in nature, but has some chamber orchestra stuff on it as well. It's called Up Through the Up Pipe. It releases December 16th. Beethoven's birthday..
As far as playing out anyplace, I did try to make a comeback. Got in a nice solo gig on the Plaza this past Summer, and was scheduled to play at Anchors Away that same week, but COVID again reared its ugly head. I lost another trio gig last year when Robbie's closed down. Just my f-ing luck..
I've always been off-and-on as far as the scene, so this is nothing new. I was also working on a better social life before COVID hit, and that's starting to make a comeback. Strangely enough, most of my friends play something, so music still figures in there.
