Montag

Good morning! 10:10 and 36 degrees on this often-dreaded first day of the workweek. Every Monday I'd return kicking and screaming from the peace and quiet of home to the chaos and bedlam of the Unemployment Office. But all those manic Mondays eventually enabled me to retire. This is something I wish for everybody.

Truth be known, the only aspect of my job that I truly hated was working the reception counter. There was a program they had me working, where I would meet with clients one-on-one and help them formulate a game plan for getting back to work, which I liked very much.

Also a program for visiting employers, where they'd talk to a group of job-seekers about their company and what they were looking for in prospective employees.

And there were other things along the way that I had a good time doing. Unfortunately, you didn't always have the latitude to do the stuff you actually liked. You had to go where they felt you were needed. I think that front counter took it out of a number of us. It drove me to drink--more--but it also drove me into an early retirement. Which finally brings us to:

Music news. Odds and ends right now. I have yet more backlog, which I'm gonna put up this week.

It's called St Vitus's Dance Card, and is on the site here under My Wares. Unfortunately, you can't buy anything from my site. It uses Paypal, which I've never bothered to follow through on because it's a pain in the butt. But you can stream, and I try to have free downloads in there for whoever's interested.

I've done a lot of smoother stuff in these last two years, and also a few more raucous things. This one is more raucous, more in-your-face. Seems like my output amid the current craziness is either to soothe or to get the crazy out of my system. Both have a purpose..

On the playing end of things, nothing until April 15th. José and I tear it up again, this time at Anchors Away. And I have a trio gig on May 6th at Boone's. Still practicing, and still making videos- some of which end up on the cutting room floor and some survive to go up on YouTube.

Okay. This is a long-ass post. Thanks as ever for stopping in and reading. Happy Monday to you, whether you're still in the workforce or blissfully retired. For now, je suis outa here. More later.

PS today's pic was taken at the now-defunct Remy's, in 2008. Myself, Steve Jackson, David Hoffman, and I can't remember the drummer's name. Frank Parker was also with us.

PPS today's tune is from the archives. Solos by me and David Hoffman. It's called Jewish Insurance. The title came from a dream, in which I gave my brother a Board Game called--Jewish Insurance.
