Good morning! 9:30 and 35 degrees at the moment. These dark, cloudy days are my Kryptonite. Harder to write these posts on days like today, harder to muster up any kind of cheeriness. But here goes, all the same.
The man, the music. My next musical trip out of the house will be on April 15th, at Anchors Away. José Gobbo and myself, just two guys and their guitars tearin' it up. We've played together on a number of occasions, and did a gig back in January much like the one we're due to play.
He's going to New York on the 17th, due to be back on that Friday for another Anchors Away gig. And he asked me to cover for the beginning of that gig , until he can get there. Normally, I don't like being on call, but I can spare a Friday. And I'll meet some new musicians, including Victoria Capo. And José did offer to buy me dinner...
And I have another gig coming up on May 6th, at Boone's. Rob Killam and Dave Pruitt will be joining me for 2 hours of jazz standards and maybe an original or two. Quite often, I open up part of the second set for a few folks to sit in. It's the same fun as Robbie's, only without the Jeopardy game at the bar.
The pattern with me seems to be a couple gigs followed by a period here in the Lab. I had two January gigs, and then a good couple months at home. So after these two events, I'll probably hole up for awhile again- until it's time to get back out of the house. It's how I roll anymore..
So that's my music news for you, for the moment. Thanks as ever for stopping in and reading. And hey, we have some of that partly sunny stuff going on outside. Maybe there's hope for this day after all. Happy Friday to you! For now, ich bin outa here. More later.
