Blackened Friday

Good morning! 10:18 and 38 degrees at the moment on this Black Friday.

Hope everyone reading this--both of you--had a nice Thanksgiving. Mine was just fine. I've had Thanksgivings with a packed house--mainly in the kid years-- and a few alone.  The ideal, at least for me, is a handful of folks. This is what I had going yesterday. Great food, good conversations and a few laughs in there. I couldn't ask for more..

My brother had one of those solo Thanksgivings. But he called me to make sure I didn't have to have one. Gotta give credit where it's due here. My brother and I  get on each other's nerves after awhile, but he's got my back. And I've got his. Your basic sibling relationship..

Black Friday has  always sounded evil to me, like some sort of Satanic Ritual.  But black in this case refers to profitability. In the black, as it were. I don't understand the mentality of Black Friday, the compulsion to get that Great Deal--which is not often advertised honesty as far as the actual inventory. But then there are a lot of mentalities these days that baffle me..

Music news. Still spending a lot of time with the new guitar. This coming year I'm going to do another solo guitar album. It'll be the second such album for me. The first was done back in 2007. So it's about time for the sequel.

Eventually I'll come around in the rotation for Boone's, and assemble the troops for another go. We played there  this past May. I tried to get another rehearsal going, but we went through a heat wave that zapped everyone's motivation.

That's all future news. In the present moment, I'm still making videos from my practice sessions. Some days everything is on the cutting room floor, and other days I have at least a couple of winners. More to come on YouTube.

Anyway! It's now 39 degrees and the sun is out. These posts take a cup of coffee to write. Time for cup #2--out of a possible 3 and change. Lumosity and Wordle await. So thanks as ever for stopping in and reading. Happy Friday to you, however you choose to spend it! Later, y'all..PS today's pic is an earlier incarnation of Ocean State. Me, guitar; Lou Humphrey, percussion; Mark Russillo, harmonica and vocals.
